Workforce Development Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
Workforce Development Coordinator is responsible for working closely with workforce related projects, and/or coordinating workforce related opportunities, and facilitation of workforce development curriculum. In addition, the Workforce Development Coordinator will assist the Director of Teen Programs with the planning, development and implementation of workforce development programs for youth between the ages of 10 and 18 in The CLUB at the Alfred Elson, Jr. Clubhouse. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all pertinent licensing, accreditation, and program evaluation. Part Time, Monday-Friday, approximately 25 hours each week; late afternoon to evening. This is a contracted, grant funded position that will be in effect through June 2026.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Each of these areas of responsibility is designed to further the organization’s mission of preparing youth for success by inspiring and enabling young people from Pawtucket and surrounding communities, especially those with greatest need, to realize their full potential as healthy, productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
- Identify, engage, and recruit youth to participate in enrichment programs promoting skill needed for workforce development. This includes, but is not limited to, Boy & Girls Club of America (BGCA) curriculum, mentorship opportunities, and internships.
- Maintain a system for tracking all workforce participants including working terms, compliance requirements, and any other important work-related provisions.
- Offer multiple programs, workshops, training for members including resume and application assistance, interview practice, and job seeking tips using the CareerLaunch facilitator guide as a resource.
- Connect youth to internships where they can use their knowledge gained in the class sessions and periodically follow up on their progress.
- Regularly monitor progress on goals set for Workforce Development outcomes, and communicate successes and areas of opportunity.
- Collect, maintain, and report accurate workforce development program data, including but not limited to:
Completion of Work-Based Learning Training
Participation in mock interviews, career panels, and career fairs
Resume completion
Internship completion
Member demographics
Ensuring that all data is organized, up-to-date, and submitted in a timely manner for internal evaluation, grant reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety, and development of members and staff by providing guidance and acting as a role model to members and staff and ensuring violence prevention policies are enforced at all times.
- Ensure State of Rhode Island guidelines and requirements, and BGCA membership requirements are met and programs are measured against RI Program Quality Assessment, and BGCA continuous quality improvement.
- Provide transportation for teen members to and from off-site internship sites when necessary, in compliance with organizational policies and state licensing.
- Ensure program areas are safe, clean, well-ventilated and well-lit, and that the Club equipment is maintained in good working condition. Ensure program supplies are maintained within the program budget.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- A four-year college degree from an accredited college in related youth development field.
- Minimum of two years’ experience working at a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth development agency.
- Experience managing a successful workforce development program for young adults.
- Experience communicating with community/program partners, families and working with youth in the workforce development space.
- Experience hiring, training, and managing staff, including scheduling.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles related to youth development, workforce development, group leadership skills and an understanding of group dynamics.
- Current Rhode Island driver’s license. Chauffer’s endorsement preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, also required.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour
