Sports Leagues & Teams
In addition to the daily access to sports activities in the gym, on our playground and sports fields, and in the pool, we also offer several options for youth to participate in a more structured season-long sports league. There is an additional fee for participation on our Swim Team as well as in our Basketball and Baseball leagues. Please also note that participation in any of our sports leagues requires an active membership at our Club which is current through the duration of the program.
Please read the Athletic Parent Expectations before attending your child’s games.

Level 1:
Swimmers will learn to be more comfortable in the water, learning how to enter and exit the water safely, blowing bubbles and bobbing, floating, gliding on their front and back for short distances, and understanding the concepts of how to use their arms correctly on both their front and back. Even if swimmers feel comfortable in the water, Level 1 is a great class to learn the basics to help advance themselves in the upcoming levels.
Level 2:
Swimmers will build upon the same skill set they learn in the Level 1 class, along with new skills such as treading water. This class is designed for swimmers to become more independent in the water and have less assistance.

Sharks Swim Team
The Pawtucket Sharks Swim Team is open to swimmers ages 6–18 who are interested in improving their swimming skills, becoming part of a team, and experiencing competitive swimming in a positive and supportive environment. Swimmers of different experience levels are welcome, including those who are new to swim team.
The team is divided into three practice groups—Bronze, Silver, and Gold—so each swimmer can train with others who have similar skills and experience. Bronze introduces swimmers to the basics of competitive swimming; Silver helps swimmers continue developing their technique and endurance, and Gold provides more advanced training for experienced swimmers. Coaches will help determine which group is the best fit for each swimmer.
Throughout the season, swimmers will work on the four competitive strokes, starts, turns, underwater skills, endurance, speed, and race preparation. Practices are designed to help swimmers improve at their own pace while building confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive practice habits.
Silver and Gold swimmers will also participate in dryland training as part of the program. Dryland activities take place outside of the pool and may include stretching, bodyweight exercises, core work, cardio, and other age-appropriate activities. These sessions are designed to help swimmers improve their strength, flexibility, coordination, endurance, and overall swimming performance.
The Sharks compete in Rhode Island/Massachusetts Aquatic League meets throughout the season and participate in the RIMA Championships. Meets allow swimmers to represent their team, celebrate their progress, and work toward improving their individual times. While competition is part of the program, our main goal is to help every swimmer grow, have fun, and feel successful as a member of the Pawtucket Sharks.
Practice Descriptions
Bronze Practice
Beginner Competitive Level
The Bronze Practice is designed for swimmers who are new to competitive swimming or transitioning from swim lessons into a team environment. Swimmers will develop confidence in the water while learning the fundamentals needed to participate safely and successfully in practices and swim meets.
Practices focus on proper body position, kicking, breathing, streamline, and the basic techniques of all four competitive strokes. Swimmers are also introduced to starts, turns, underwater skills, lane etiquette, and following structured practice sets. The goal of Bronze is to build strong fundamentals, improve endurance, develop good practice habits, and provide a positive introduction to competitive swimming.
Silver Practice
Intermediate Competitive Level
The Silver Practice is designed for swimmers who have established basic competitive swimming skills and are ready for longer, more structured workouts. Swimmers should have a working knowledge of all four competitive strokes and be prepared to improve their technique, endurance, and consistency.
Practices focus on refining stroke mechanics, improving starts and turns, developing stronger underwater skills, and introducing interval training, pace awareness, and race preparation. Silver swimmers may also participate in dryland exercises to improve strength, flexibility, mobility, and overall fitness. Swimmers will learn how to maintain proper technique while swimming longer distances and at faster speeds. The goal of Silver is to prepare swimmers for stronger meet performances while developing the focus, discipline, and training habits needed to advance to the Gold Practice.
Gold Practice
Advanced Competitive Level
Gold Practice is the Sharks’ highest training group and is designed for experienced swimmers who are ready for longer practices and more advanced training. Swimmers in this group should have a good understanding of all four competitive strokes and be prepared to continue improving their technique, endurance, speed, and race skills.
Practices include a mix of stroke work, sprint and distance training, starts, turns, underwater skills, pace work, and race preparation. Gold swimmers may also participate in dryland exercises to improve strength, flexibility, mobility, and overall fitness. The goal of Gold Practice is to help each swimmer continue improving, build strong training habits, and prepare for swim meets, championships, high school swimming, travel meets, and other competitive opportunities.

The primary goals of our Nike Jr. RBI program are to teach baseball skills and rules, encourage sportsmanship, and provide a fun environment for beginner players.
