A Historic Milestone for the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket: Welcoming Our First Woman CEO

The Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket is proud to share exciting news about the future of our organization. In January 2026, Amy Gonsalves will become the first woman CEO in our Club’s 125-year history.

Amy has been part of our family since 2020, when she joined as Director of Development & Communications. In that role, she quickly proved herself as a dedicated leader, passionate advocate, and skilled relationship-builder. Her commitment to our mission has helped strengthen the Club’s foundation, expand resources for our members, and inspire new supporters to get involved.

Preparing for the Next Chapter

This leadership transition comes as current CEO Jim Hoyt prepares for his retirement. Amy has spent most of this year as Associate Executive Director, working closely alongside Jim to ensure a smooth transition. Jim, who has led the Club with vision and heart for decades, has no doubt that Amy is ready to carry the torch:

“As a servant leader, Amy leads with empathy, integrity, and humility,” Jim shared. “She has a proven track record of building relationships and expanding support both internally and externally. With her deep understanding of the Club’s mission and values, I know she will strengthen our future and expand our impact.”

A Career Rooted in Service

Amy’s career began in journalism, but she quickly discovered her true calling in nonprofit work. Before joining our team, she served organizations including The Genesis Foundation for Children, Kennedy Donovan Center, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Her fundraising and communications expertise have always been driven by one thing: making life better for children and families.

Along the way, Amy has been recognized both locally and nationally for her achievements. She was named a Woman to Watch by Providence Business News in 2022, and in 2023 was honored by Boys & Girls Clubs of America as the Northeast Region Outstanding Resource Development Professional of the Year.

Locally, she has deepened her leadership skills through the Women’s Fund of Rhode Island’s Policy Institute, executive coaching, and by serving as Secretary on the Association of Fundraising Professionals – RI Board of Directors.

Looking Ahead

Amy is humbled by this historic appointment and excited about the opportunities ahead:

“I am honored to be the first woman to step into the role of CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket,” Amy said. “Jim has been an incredible leader, and I am grateful for the chance to build on his legacy. I look forward to working alongside our Board, staff, supporters, and volunteers to continue building on the Club’s strong history of impact.”

As we celebrate 125 years of inspiring great futures, this announcement marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter. With Amy’s leadership and the continued support of our community, the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket is poised to thrive for generations to come.
